Public product pages revealed ACME’s expansion plans

A competitor’s public website led to accessible product builds that revealed a much wider offer than its established positioning suggested.

An anonymised client example, based on manually verified research. Names, identifying details and original links are withheld.

What we found

Links from the company’s website led to publicly accessible pre-deployment builds. Branding, footer references and signup material connected those builds to the organisation. Together, they described six connected products, customer workflows and how the offer would be sold.

Why it mattered

For the client, the competitive question became more specific: where would the expanded offer overlap their own, and which product or positioning decisions deserved attention first?

A marketing manager could prepare a clearer comparison of the offers. A product manager could assess the workflow overlap and revisit priorities.

What they’re likely to do next

The builds set out features, pricing and signup plans. We expected the products to move onto the main company website, followed by customer signup.

The useful lesson

A homepage is a starting point. Follow its public links, compare the connected material and retain the evidence behind the conclusion. A small reference can make a much larger competitive development visible.
